Best Botox in Long Island
How Does Botox Work?
Botox in Long Island is made from a neurotoxin and is commonly referred to as botulinum toxin type A. This botulinum toxin is then injected into the patient’s muscles and works to block the nerve impulses that cause muscles to contract and form facial wrinkles. BOTOX Cosmetic® is the most widely used treatment for wrinkle treatments, and it is the first to gain FDA approval. One thing to note is that after receiving the injections, you will still be able to laugh, smile, or frown, just without those annoying wrinkles. Typically, the duration of this treatment will last between three to six months. After that time frame, it is recommended to repeat these treatments to keep wrinkles from coming back. In some cases, an allergic reaction to Botox may occur. Most of our Botox patients in Long Island do not have an allergic reaction, however, those who have such a reaction should consider trying other wrinkle treatments such as Dysport or Xeomin.
What to Expect from your BOTOX® Cosmetic Injections
Our injections are a non-surgical treatment used to reduce fine lines and wrinkles that have developed on the face caused by repeated motion. These facial wrinkles are usually caused by the contraction of delicate facial muscles that reside underneath the skin surface. These injections relax the muscles and help prevent facial lines from forming for a period of time through facial expressions that are often made each day.
During your consultation for Botox in Long Island, Dr. Jacono will determine what areas these cosmetic injections should be injected in and how many units are needed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles that have formed. Wrinkles that are often treated include forehead creases, crow’s feet, lines between the eyebrows, and neckbands. Treatments for each patient are customized to achieve their desired results.
Some examples of the wrinkles that Botox treats are:
- The fine lines found around the eyes are called “crow’s feet” and are the direct result of us smiling and squinting.
- The vertical lines between the eyebrows are called “elevens” or “frown lines” and these occur when we concentrate or are angry.
It can even be used to lift the corners of the mouth to prevent sagging of the skin and avoid an angry or upset expression. Those who want optimal results can combine Botox with injectable fillers to perform a liquid facelift.

Facial Areas Treated with Botox Injections
Neck Bands and Cords: Platysmal bands are the thick bands of muscles located on the front of the neck and can be softened using Botox in a very subtle way. This works extremely well on thin necks that have obvious muscle bands that show while chewing or grimacing.
Brow Lift: The corrugator supercilii muscle located between the eyebrows and the orbicularis muscle located at the outer tail of the brow are both parts of the muscle group that pulls the eyebrows down. A skilled injector such as Dr. Jacono can use Botox injections to lift, as well as, shape and tilt the brows.
Drooping Corner of Mouth, Frowning: Facial muscles called the depressor anguli oris control the corners of the mouth and frowning. These muscles are responsible for pulling down the corners of the mouth and creating a frown. To correct this, Dr. Jacono uses Botox injections into those muscles which prevent them from contracting. This allows the corners of the mouth to turn up.
Non-Surgical Nasal Tip Lift: This muscle pulls down on the tip of the nose and causes a droopy appearance. This muscle is called the depressor septi muscle and is located just below the nostrils. Dr. Jacono can fix a droopy nasal tip by injecting the botulinum toxin into the muscle to release it and causes a more upturned nose.
Chin Dimpling: Too many chin dimples can be caused by an overactive chin muscle called the mentalis. It is called a peau d’orange chin because it looks like the surface of an orange. By injecting a few units of botulinum toxin, it will look smoother.
Gummy Smile: Another issue Dr. Jacono can treat using Botox is called a gummy smile which results in a smile where the teeth are too exposed. This is caused by a hyperactive muscle called the lip elevators. Dr. Jacono injects two muscles called the levator labii superioris and levator labii superioris alaeque nasi and this will prevent the lip from elevating too much and showing the gums when you smile.
Pore Size: Botulinum toxin has been found to be helpful for acne sufferers. Injections made just under the skin affect the sebaceous or oil glands, which are the culprits behind oil production. Pore size can appear reduced and acne breakouts are diminished.
