What is the Difference Between Botox and Newtox?
When it comes to stopping signs of aging in their tracks, Botox has been the go-to procedure for decades. Botox is a rejuvenating treatment that effectively eliminates wrinkles and bothersome fine lines without compromising your ability to laugh, smile, or frown. (We’ve found that without wrinkles in the way, there’s a lot to smile about.) Additionally, Botox can be used to correct problems like eye twitching, crossed eyes, and facial spasms.
Newtox, also known as Jeuveau, is essentially a newer alternative to Botox. The main difference between Botox and Newtox is that Newtox uses Hi-Pure technology which better purifies the active ingredient in the two products, making it an even safer procedure.
How they work
Botox and Newtox are non-surgical injections. Both products use botulinum toxin, a neurotoxic protein that works to temporarily stop the nerve tissue in the face from responding, preventing the skin wrinkling and creasing that comes with age. Basically, whatever face you make, the protein stops those pesky lines that might come along with it. The results are visible after a few hours to a day and last for about 3 to 6 months. To maintain your desired look and keep the wrinkles at bay, it’s recommended to be treated with Botox or Newtox again after this time.
Benefits
Both procedures help you look younger quickly with virtually zero recovery time. At JSPA Medical Day Spa, wrinkle treatments are customized for each patient. Your doctor may even suggest combining Botox with an injectable filler such as Juvéderm™ or Restylane®, Radiesse® or Perlane® in what we call the “Liquid Face Lift”. That’s right, a non-surgical facelift custom-made for you to create beautiful, natural, rejuvenating results – no stiffness!
Common concerns that are treated with Botox or Newtox
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet (wrinkling at the corner of the eyes)
- Lip wrinkles and creases
- Bunny lines (wrinkling by the bridge of the nose)
- Dimpled chin
Are there any differences?
Botox is not just for cosmetic use. It can be used to treat a variety of medical conditions ranging from migraines to TMJ to excessive sweating. However, Newtox is currently only available for aesthetic purposes. For some patients, Newtox may last longer than Botox. For patients that have developed a resistance to Botox’s formula, Newtox can be used as an effective alternative so you can keep achieving your ideal results.
