Jeuveau™ Facial Wrinkle Treatment (Newtox)
Do you worry about your wrinkles and creases? Do you long to rewind the clock 20 years and bring forth a younger and radiant version of you, without the evident signs of aging? Smooth out those crow’s feet, smile lines, forehead lines, and frown lines with Jeuveau™, also known as Newtox.
What is Jeuveau™?
Jeuveau™, offered by Evolus, is a more purified version of botulinum toxin A, which is what is used in Botox. It is also known as Newtox, since it’s newer and more up to date version of Botox, made much safer. Made of the same protein, it goes through Hi-Pure technology, which boasts a different purifying and drying process. With Hi-Pure technology, the protein goes through more extensive purification, to become even safer for use. Jeuveau™ became FDA-approved on February 1, 2019, and the first real Botox competitor to surface in over a decade.
Evolus is a medical aesthetics company, headquartered in Newport Beach, California and was founded in 2012. When creating Jeuveau™, they called it that based on the French word, “nouveau”, meaning “modern”, and gave it the name “Newtox”.
Newtox vs Botox
Newtox and Botox are essentially the same product and offer similar results, onset times and longevity of said results. However, the main difference is Newtox (the new botox), is safer because it uses Hi-Pure technology to purify the protein better.
Botox has been long respected by many and a go-to procedure to have had done to cure the visible effects of aging and some problems such as eye twitching, cross eyedness, and hemifacial spasms. Botox is not only used for some medical problems but as a filler to smooth wrinkles and creases.
What is a Neurotoxin and is it Dangerous?
A neurotoxin is a chemical compound that stops the functions of nerve tissue, stopping muscles from flexing. Nerve tissue and cells are regenerative, meaning the effects of neurotoxins do not last.
When Botox or Newtox is injected, over time, the nerve tissue and cells will eventually grow back, which is the reason the results will last for just around 3 to 6 months. Plus, these injections do not harm skin tissue or the muscle tissue underneath, and it is simply a myth that these injections will freeze or alter the face permanently.
Recovery from a Newtox Procedure
The recovery time for Newtox injections is a mere few hours, then patients can resume their normal routines. After your injection, try not to touch the treated area, avoid physical activity, and avoid laying down. Within 24 hours, your results should be most noticeable, but sometimes it can take a few days. Your results should last for between 3 to 6 months.
Who is a Good Candidate for Jeuveau™?
A good candidate for Newtox is someone who is physically healthy; has no history of, or existing, neuromuscular diseases, such as sclerosis; is not pregnant or nursing; is of at least the age 18; has realistic expectations of what they can achieve with Jeuveau™.
Someone who should not get Newtox is someone with ptosis (droopy eyelids); deep facial scarring; facial asymmetry; or skin disorders around the areas that are planned for injection.

Frequently Asked Questions About Newtox
Will my facial expressions be stiff?
No, your expressions should not be stiff or had a “work on” look. You can still move your facial muscles around like normal but without the lines and wrinkles.
Where can I have Jeuveau™ injected?
Jeuveau™ can be injected to smooth out forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, lip wrinkles and creases, bunny lines, and a dimpled chin.
How long before the effects are noticeable?
Despite being a procedure, where you are able to resume activities on the first day of the injection, the effects may become noticeable by the next day. However, it certainly can take up to 4 days, and in other situations up to 2 weeks, to develop.
How often should I get injections?
Effects will usually begin to fade within 3 to 6 months. It is recommended to get another injection by then if the patient wishes to maintain their results.
Are there any risks associated with Jeuveau™?
Jeuveau™ is an FDA-approved neurotoxin injection, just like Botox. In fact, it is the same chemical makeup as Botox, but the proteins are purer, meaning it is a much safer procedure. However, that does not mean there are no risks involved. Although there is a tiny chance of occurrence, it is possible to experience headaches, eyelid drooping, and infection.
