PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma
What is PRP?
PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is a component used in a revolutionary treatment that is composed of a mixture of highly concentrated platelets and serum that is administered as an injection for the scalp or by micro-needling into the face. These PRP injections or micro tears help to stimulate and promote healing and helps with healthy tissue regeneration.
Platelets are naturally found within our bodies tissues and help to repair damaged tissue by encouraging the body’s own stem cells to converge on the site of damage.
How does PRP work?
The platelets which also help blood to clot are very much a part of the bodies healing process. This natural element has strong connective tissue growth factors and when PRP is administered the platelet concentration can increase nearly 500%. Simply stated, PRP treatments recreate and stimulate the natural healing process of the body.
Dr. Jacono uses this amazing healing accelerator for treating hair loss and during micro-needling treatments with a Dermapen.
How is PRP Created?
Dr. Jacono begins the PRP process by drawing a small amount of the patients’ blood. The blood is then placed into a specialized centrifuge machine which spins at a high rate of revolution. This spinning process separates out the red blood cells leaving behind the remaining platelets and rich plasma. After discarding the red blood cells, the remaining platelet rich plasma is then used for the treatment.
Benefits of PRP treatments
- Platelets are packed with healing power and attract the critical assistance of stem cells.
- PRP intensifies the body’s natural healing process by delivering higher concentrations of platelets directly to the treatment area.
- Platelet Rich Plasma is created from patients own blood and produces a higher concentration of platelets which delivers a purer concertation of this healing component.
- PRP can jump start the healing process by being injected directly into the targeted areas significantly improving the healing process.
- Since PRP is created from the patient’s own blood, there is no risk of transmissible infections or any allergic reactions.
The PRP treatment can be incorporated into aesthetic procedures such as Neograft Hair Transplants, Micro-Needling facials, or even as a stand-alone hair loss prevention therapy.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
Platelet rich plasma is blood plasma with more platelets than are typically found in blood. Because there are more platelets, there is a greater concentration of growth factors.
How is PRP therapy performed?
At J SPA PRP is applied during microneedling procedures so that it is easily absorbed by the skin. It is also used to help encourage and stimulate hair growth as a stand alone procedure or when performed in conjunction with a hair transplant procedure.
How do I know if I am a candidate for PRP?
To find out if you are a good candidate for PRP procedures, you will need to meet with Dr. Jacono for an in person consultation.
How many PRP treatments will I need?
A series of three to five treatments is recommended for optimal results.
What is the success rate of PRP?
