Microdermabrasion Long Island
What is a Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that is designed to refresh and restore a healthy glow to your skin. Dr. Jacono uses the latest in cutting-edge microdermabrasion technology to deliver amazing results to his Long Island patients at J Spa Medical Spa.
What make this skin rejuvenation procedure so popular are its dramatic results with little downtime. The procedure itself takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and many patients schedule their treatment during their lunch hour.
How Does Microdermabrasion Work?
Our Long Island microdermabrasion procedures do not take very long to perform, and most patients feel little to no discomfort during their treatment. Because of this, no topical anesthetic is needed for this procedure. Once the treatment begins, Dr. Jacono and his experienced estheticians will gently exfoliate the skin on your face and then clear away the dead skin cells that are left behind.
After your microdermabrasion, you will leave with smoother skin and can return home or return to normal daily activities. It is recommended that our Long Island patients do 8 to 10 microdermabrasion sessions to achieve their optimal results.
Areas of the face that microdermabrasion can improve include:
- Sun Damage
- Acne Scarring
- Crow’s Feet
- Wrinkles
- Fine Lines
- Age Spots
Dermabrasion vs. Microdermabrasion
Both treatments are based on the same principle of exfoliating the outer layer of skin to renew the skin cells and leave patients looking radiant. The main difference between the two, however, is that the microdermabrasion technique is based on a gentler process which allows for minimal to no downtime afterward.
Microdermabrasion Benefits:
- 30 to 60-minute procedure
- Less aggressive exfoliation
- Little to no downtime
- Sunscreen use required after treatment
- Restores healthy skin
- Safe for all skin types
- Performed in the office
Dermabrasion Benefits:
- Much more aggressive procedure
- Treat blemishes and acne scars
- Performed in Dr. Jacono’s surgery center
- General Anesthesia is required
- Procedure will take over an hour to perform
- Bandages to dress the exfoliated areas will be applied
- Patients are encouraged to take up to two weeks off work
- Ointments must be applied at home
- Best suited for lighter skin colors only
